Public Opinion:  St Michael's Fireworks Factory of Lija

 

MIFF 11th edition winners:

3rd place Jost Fireworks of Austria on 377 points

2nd place Mirnovez of Croatia on 391 points

1st place St Michael's Fireworks Factory of Lija Malta with an overriding 435 points out of a total of 500.

 

Trophies for participation were also presented to Apogée of Canada, Phoenix of the UK and Surex from Poland.

 

Results of Competitive Fireworks displays 2011

 

As part of the programme a competition was held between five Maltese Fireworks factories.

 

The overall winner was : Lourdes Fireworks Factory of Qrendi

 

Runner Up - placing second was : Our Lady of Consolation of Gudja

 

Placing third was the La Stella Fireworks Factory of Gudja.

 

Also participating in the competition were the St Nicholas Fireworks Factory of Siggiewi and the Santa Maria Fireworks Factory of Mgarr.  

 

The adjudicating panel was made up of three international experts and chaired by Mr. Joe Theuma, Secretary of the Malta Pyrotechnic Association.  

 

The festival was organised by the Ministry for Tourism, the Environment and Culture together with the Malta Tourism Authority.

 

Results of Competitive Fireworks displays 2010  

 

Six local fireworks factories took part in this competition.

 

The adjudication was carried out by a panel of three foreign experts in pyrotechnics, ably chaired by Mr Joseph Theuma, Secretary to the Malta Pyrotechnics Association. The adjudication was based on quality of colours produced, quality of shells, originality of the product, and the overall presentation.

 

The first placed competitor was Santa Marija Fireworks Factory (Ghaxaq), the second place went to La Stella Fireworks Factory (Gudja) and the third place went to St Bartholomew Fireworks Factory (Gharghur).
